RICHARDSON, Texas — A North Texas community activist is organizing a Thanksgiving food basket giveaway to help families in need.
Chancee Smalley, founder of the Jewel Foundation, says her goal is to help at least 200 families this Thanksgiving season. In the past, Smalley has organized free Thanksgiving dinners for families. The food baskets will contain a turkey and several side dish items.
While some of the items are being donated to the Jewel Foundation, Smalley is purchasing some of them just to make sure the families depending on her organization don't go without this Thanksgiving. Although she owns and operates a small business, her mission is to have a big impact.
