Chester, like the rest of America, has an affordable housing problem, and on Thursday the city took a small step toward a solution as they broke ground on Grace Manor, a new affordable housing development.

Phase 1 of the project, which is located on the site of former Pulaski Middle School near Seventh and Booth Streets, will see 10 units, with a total of 21 units when built out.

“It is a blessed and exciting day,” said Annette Pyatt, executive director of the Chester Community Improvement Project, which will be the developers of the project. “It will be a great impact to the city, and it couldn’t be in a better location with the (ACCESS) Community Center and new gymnasium going in.”
