NORMAN — Oklahoma is playing consequential football in mid-November.

Fresh off a second 6-7 season in three years, most Sooners fans would be pleased if you’d have told them in August. It was thought then, facing one of the nation’s strongest schedules, a potential 8-4 or 9-3 record would’ve been commended.

Now, with three games remaining and ranked No. 11 in the College Football Playoff rankings, OU (7-2, 3-2 SEC) has its sights set higher and controls its own destiny.
