A much-loved EastEnders character will return from the dead for a special episode, it has been confirmed

EastEnders has announced the unexpected comeback of Pat Butcher, played by Pam St Clement, as part of Nigel Bates' dementia storyline. ‌

BBC soap fans will recall that Nigel, portrayed by Paul Bradley, is dealing with a diagnosis of young-onset dementia, a key aspect of his return to Albert Square for Christmas 2024. ‌

The heartbreaking condition leads to confusion and memory loss for Nigel, causing him to conceal his diagnosis and grapple with its progression. ‌

In an upcoming episode set to air in December, viewers will see Nigel's memory and altered reality take him back to 1990.
