The Bergen County Animal Shelter rolled out the red carpet for a dog brought to them by her previous family after they welcomed a new baby.
Tiny, an 8.5-year-old tan pittie, waited patiently at the Teterboro shelter for 22 months (or 661 days), bonding with the staff and volunteers — especially Doris.
According to Shelter Manager Meg Tedeschi, Doris is the one who taught Tiny all of her new manners, helping her become the well-rounded, well-adjusted dog that she is.
And so, on Thursday afternoon, Nov. 13, when Tiny was escorted out of the shelter with her new dad, she turned back to say one last goodbye to none other than Doris.
"Don't worry," Tiny's new dad can be heard saying. "You're going to have a good house."

Shelter officials said Tiny would do best as the only dog, and according to Tedeschi, that’s more than enough.
"She has so much life and love in her that you don't need another dog in the home," Tedeschi said.
Tedeschi said the red-carpet sendoff is reserved for animals who spend a significant amount of time in the shelter or get adopted after being overlooked for no clear reason.
The Begen County Animal Shelter has dozens of dogs and cats readily available for adoption. Anyone interested in adopting can stop by the shelter 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.
