ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Five years after her wedding day, Rebecca Casey planned a special surprise for her husband: she would slip back into her custom-made wedding gown and greet him when he came home on their anniversary.
But when she opened the preserved gown box earlier this month, the moment didn’t go as planned.
Inside the box was a beautiful dress...just not hers.
"My dress was completely lace, and I was like, oh no, this isn't right. Whose dress is in my house and has been with me for the last 5 years?" Casey said.
Casey was married in St. Augustine in November 2020, wearing a custom gown she’d hoped to someday share with her nieces or future daughter. After the ceremony, she had the dress professionally preserved and boxed. She never opened it again...until now.
