PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Though the government shutdown is over, its impact is still being felt by families across the East, which is why a group in Winterville is stepping up to help.
On Thursday, the Pitt County Feed Our Families Coalition gathered with multiple organizations and dozens of volunteers to pack food boxes for struggling families within the community.
“I just feel grateful that we’re able to do this, that these people will receive food, and they’ll have full tummies,” volunteer Emma Rudisill says.
Local churches, schools, and other agencies came together at the Boys and Girls Club in Winterville to get the job done.
“It is just electrifying to see that people just want to help and make a difference,” Michelle Gooding with Pitt County Social Services says.
