GRAYS HARBOR COUNTY, Wash. – Washington health officials reported that a resident of Grays Harbor County has tested preliminarily positive for the bird flu. If confirmed with additional testing, this would be the first human case of bird flu in Washington this year.

Health officials are actively working to determine the potential sources of the infection, considering both wild and domestic birds as possible origins.

The individual in question is an older adult with underlying health conditions. Despite the preliminary positive result, public health disease experts have stated that they have not identified any risk to the public.
