GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY — Grand Traverse Guns N’ Hoses has announced the beneficiary of their 2026 charity hockey game.
For the first time since they began in 2014, the group has chosen someone outside the Grand Traverse area, Lt. Jonathan Miner from the Springfield Township Fire Department.
Lt. Miner served as a firefighter for 30 years, with his son working as a firefighter in Grand Traverse County and his daughter working as one in Springfield Township.
Lt. Miner died in October of this year at the age of 50.
Board President for Grand Traverse Guns N’ Hoses Tony Posey tells us that the event can raise between $15,000 and $25,000, and all proceeds will go back towards the Miner family.
However, he adds that that number could be different, because Lt. Miner is not from the area.
