Brandon Aiyuk, still rehabbing his surgically repaired knee, has not seen the practice field this season ahead of San Francisco’s Week 11 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium.
On Monday, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters that the team would not open up Aiyuk’s practice window this week. With another week missed, general manager John Lynch was asked on KNBR 680’s “Murph & Markus” if the team would treat this season like a “redshirt year” for Aiyuk.
"That's not the intention, the intention is to get Brandon back,” Lynch affirmed. “We're not there yet, and so we’ll continue to have him excel at his rehab and we just gotta get him to a place where we're comfortable opening that window and then see if he can make it back on the field.”
