DES MOINES, Iowa (KTIV) - The government shutdown has ended, and Iowa state officials say the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is resuming.
The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) says the November benefits for SNAP are expected to come online as early as Thursday, Nov. 13.
“This comes as a critical relief for more than 130,000 Iowa households who rely on SNAP to meet their nutritional needs,” stated the Iowa HHS in a press release.
The federal shutdown lasted 43 days and delayed November SNAP benefits across the country.
