LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The government shutdown has ended, but a provision tucked inside a Senate amendment could shut down the billion-dollar hemp industry.
The new federal law signed by President Trump restricts hemp products to containing no more than 0.4 milligrams total per container of THC or any other cannabinoids that have effects similar to THC. The legislation also bans cannabinoids that were synthesized or manufactured outside of the plant, including Delta-8.
Sarah Linden, owner and founder of Generation V and Grateful Green, said the restrictions could force her to close numerous stores and eliminate jobs across Nebraska.
“We will be lucky if we do not have to close entirely,” Linden said. “We will try to find other ways to expand to maintain as many jobs as we can. But there
