JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KFVS) - Missourians could be taking home more of their paychecks.
Gov. Mike Kehoe is planning to gradually phase out the state income tax. It’s no surprise because lowering or eliminating the income tax is one of the pillars of Kehoe’s campaign for governor. The governor said more details about his plan should come out in December when lawmakers start prefiling bills ahead of the 2026 legislative session.
“Missourians work very hard, they can spend their money better than any politician can,” Kehoe said. ”It’s definitely something we’ve seen in other states that’s helped them economically, attract additional jobs and investments.”
