LINN COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) - The Linn County Winter Weather Shelter will not open as scheduled Saturday due to incomplete renovation work.

The shelter, located at 1017 12th Avenue SW in Cedar Rapids, is undergoing a million-dollar renovation to add space, install a new fire sprinkler system, an elevator, and make the upstairs usable.

Linn County Building Division officials must complete a final inspection before issuing the occupancy permit.

The city will post announcements on its website and social media pages once the building is approved for use.
