GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — While many of us could take or leave a penny without a second thought, Down in the Valley record store is just beginning to learn the cost of coins' demise.
"We're hearing from our banks that it's looming," said Scott Farrell, owner of Down in the Valley. "That pennies are going to be hard to come by and we're going to have to come up with a solution for that."
Owner Scott Farrell says all you have to do is look around at the prices all over his store, and you'll see why that solution will NOT start in the aisles.
Kent Erdahl: "I see .99 on pretty much every price."
Scott Farrell: "Yes, and that's why, I think, what you want to pay attention to is the totals. And there's going to be a rounding situation happening."
