LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - CHRISTUS Ochsner St. Patrick Hospital is now the first facility in Southwest Louisiana to perform a procedure designed to make treating atrial fibrillation safer and more effective.
Atrial fibrillation, often called A-Fib, is one of the most common heart rhythm disorders, affecting millions of Americans each year.
“Atrial fibrillation is an abnormal heart rhythm affecting the top chambers of the heart,” Dr. Brian Greet, a cardiac electrophysiologist at CHRISTUS Ochsner St. Patrick, said. “It has an increased propensity for causing heart failure as well as increasing the risk of stroke.”
