NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — A Bristol man who pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a child for more than a decade was sentenced Thursday in New Britain Superior Court.
Roger Barriault was sentenced to 25 years in prison for first degree sexual assault, suspended after 10 years with a five-year mandatory minimum sentence. Following his sentence, he will be on probation for 20 years.
Barriault was accused of repeatedly sexual assaulting and impregnating a young girl in his care.
The victim, identified as C.E., said in her impact statement that Barriault took something she could never get back: her childhood and her innocence.
“This is not a joyful moment for her, it’s not one of victory but it’s one of conclusion, for sure,” said Nate Baber, C.E.’s attorney.
