ROCHESTER, Minn.-The Minnesota Department of Children, Youth and Families says now that the federal government shutdown is over the Supplemental Food Nutrition Program (SNAP) will be returning to distributing benefits as normal.

Channel One Regional Food Bank says after helping to feed around 5,000 of Olmsted County's over 6,000 SNAP and Woman, Infant and Children Special Supplemental Nutrition Program (WIC) recipients with free groceries this November, its grateful to see the gap in funding from the federal government is over.

Jessica Sund, director of development and communications, says the food bank was already dealing with supply issues before the shutdown due to cut offs in commodity program funding and donations from food manufacturers.
