A former Fox News host delivered an eyebrow-raising prediction Thursday night on CNN, warning the Justice Department will be forced to make a desperate move early next week as the fallout from the Jeffrey Epstein files continues to plague President Donald Trump.
Major Epstein-related bombshells dropped this week when the House Oversight Committee released a trove of more than 23,000 documents from the convicted sex offender's estate. The emails referenced several high-profile people, most notably Trump. That includes a 2011 message from Epstein to convicted accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell saying Trump spent hours at his house with one of Epstein's victims. In a 2019 email to author Michael Wolff, Epstein wrote, "Of course he knew about the girls as he asked ghislaine to stop."
The scandal became the topic of discussion on "OutFront" with host Erin Burnett, where guest Gretchen Carlson told fellow panelists she expects Trump's Justice Department will have to make a move.
"People believe them," she said, referring to the victims. "I mean, they at least have that now. They know that people believe them."
She then uncorked a stunning prediction.
"My prediction is the Department of Justice is going to have to release something before Tuesday," she said. "Before these survivors get back on the Hill and they start telling their stories again."
"Oh wow. Before there's even a vote?" Burnett asked, referring to an expected vote from Congress on whether to release the files.
"Yes," Carlson insisted. "That would be the smart thing to do. But they haven't had good crisis PR in this whole thing. I mean Trump was trying to change the minds of [Reps. Lauren] Boebert and [Nancy] Mace! Two of the Republican representatives who are going to vote yes for this. He was trying to change their mind yesterday, and that news got out. That is not good PR when you're trying to say you have nothing to do with this."
