AUSTIN, Texas (KLTV) - Texas lawmakers met Thursday as part of a select committee looking into free speech on college campuses following the murder of Charlie Kirk, the founder of conservative advocacy organization Turning Point USA.
The Senate and House Select Committees on Civil Discourse and Freedom of Speech in Higher Education met for over five hours, hearing from students and higher education officials.
“It is past time that we get back to recognizing one of the core parts of our civilization here in America and that is free speech, to be able to exchange ideas” said State Sen. Bob Hall (R-Edgewood).
