WATERBURY, Conn. — A pit bull is recovering after being found by Waterbury police abandoned in labor and tied to a sign during a period of heavy rain and cold temperatures last weekend.
Meanwhile, a local animal advocate group has offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of whoever is responsible.
The city's police department is currently seeking who discarded the pregnant dog on Cherry Street Sunday morning. None of the puppies the animal was carrying survived, according to police.
BARC CT , which named the dog Cassie, later took in the Pitbull and provided emergency treatment. Now, Cassie is in a foster home, and police were told her condition has improved.
