MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The longest government shutdown in history has ended, but airlines are still dealing with the impacts as officials warn it may take days for airports to get back up to speed.
Delays are mostly coming from larger airports like Chicago, which took one of the biggest hits from the government shutdown. Travelers say they’re hopeful to see the uncertainty come to an end.
For Raymond Weiland, the end of the government shutdown came with a sigh of relief.
“Just found out yesterday that I’m going back to work because I am a federal worker so that’s good news, but still got to go through with our flights and things like that,” Weiland said.
