Congress is moving forward with a plan to ban nearly all hemp-derived THC products, and it's a move that could change the cannabis industry nationwide. This proposal is part of a federal spending bill aiming to stop the sale of unregulated hemp-derived THC products such as edibles, beverages and gummies.
Lawmakers say it's about closing loopholes in the 2018 Farm Bill that allowed hemp-based THC products to grow into a multibillion-dollar industry.
