A week after easily winning the closely watched race to become New Jersey’s next governor, U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill delivered her goodbye speech to Congress on Wednesday and said she will soon step down from her current seat.

During the brief two-minute remarks, the four-term Democratic congresswoman said she’ll resign from the U.S. House of Representatives at some point next week as she prepares assume her new role as the state’s 57th governor on Jan. 20.
