LIBERTY LAKE, Wash. — Former Liberty Lake Mayor Shane Brickner died Nov. 8 at age 50 from natural causes and cardiac arrest, city officials announced.
Brickner served as Liberty Lake's mayor throughout 2020 and previously served eight years as a city council member starting in 2012, according to city officials. He also held the position of mayor pro tem during his second term.
Before entering elected office, Brickner dedicated 15 years to volunteer law enforcement as a reserve police officer for Liberty Lake from 2006 to 2019, city officials said. He joined the regional SWAT team in 2014 and served until 2021.
His volunteer service earned him Reserve Officer of the Year and Volunteer of the Year awards, according to city officials. The Pacific Northwest Kiwanis honored him with the Ever
