CHILTON COUNTY, Ala. —
A joint operation between federal and local law enforcement in Chilton County led to several immigration arrests during a series of driver license checkpoints on Tuesday.
A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) team worked with state troopers, and police departments in Jemison and Clanton.
Officials said eight people were detained, several with prior illegal entries and one with criminal convictions.
ICE said the operation is part of a statewide partnership aimed at identifying and removing individuals in the country unlawfully.
