TOLEDO BEND, La. (KSLA) - The community turned out in large numbers to oppose the out-of-state sale of the water from Toledo Bend.
On Nov. 13, people from across Sabine Parish came together to discuss a proposal to sell water from Toledo Bend to out-of-state buyers.
In September, the Louisiana Sabine River Authority agreed to pay $50,000 to do a study on how selling the water could impact Toledo Bend. In the original proposal, Texas Sabine River Authority’s side was supposed to pay, but that fell through.
Additionally, a large number of the community turned out in opposition to the possible sale of water.
