A grandma in Illinois won $3 million on a $30 scratch-off ticket she purchased in a western suburb of Chicago, Illinois Lottery announced Thursday.
The woman, who chose to remain anonymous under the name "Happy Grandma," won millions on an Illinois Lottery Super Bonus scratch-off ticket she purchased at a BP Gas Station in Villa Park, located at 1 West St. Charles Road.
“I usually buy the Crossword scratch-off, but something told me to try something different this time,” said Happy Grandma. “When I saw the $3 million top prize on the Super Bonus ticket, I just knew it was meant to be. It felt like divine intervention.”
Happy Grandma said she first thought she had only won her money back when she began scratching off her ticket once she got home.
