TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – Pima Animal Care Center (PACC) is urgently seeking community assistance as the shelter faces a critical overflow situation. With 593 dogs currently in their care, PACC has been forced to use temporary pop-up kennels and house multiple dogs in single kennels, creating unsafe conditions for both animals and staff.
“Simply put, we are out of room,” PACC Director Steve Kozachik said. “Virtually every kennel at PACC is currently housing two dogs. That is a safety issue for our staff and volunteers, and it is not fair to the animals.”
The shelter's high census has led to a grim scenario where over a dozen dogs are scheduled for euthanasia in the coming days unless the number of dogs can be reduced. PACC hopes to pause these deadlines if they can lower their dog populatio
