Gladstone Police are patrolling school zones to educate children and parents on the use of non-compliant e-mobility devices as part of Operation Xray Surety.

The operation, which began earlier this month, has seen officers engaging with communities across the state to educate users on road rules and compliance associated with e-mobility devices, including e-bikes, e-scooters and e-motorbikes.

Officers from Gladstone’s Child Protection Investigation Unit (CPIU), General Duties, and Highway Patrol have conducted more than 50 street checks around school zones and found around 80% of e-mobility devices to be non-compliant. A large number of children were also found to not be wearing helmets correctly.
