PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - A 38-year-old Portland man pleaded guilty on Wednesday to causing a bomb scare that shut down part of Interstate 5 in north Portland , according to court records.
Alexander Wick pleaded guilty to possessing a hoax destructive device, two counts of recklessly endangering another person and three counts of second-degree criminal mischief.
This comes after Portland police closed the freeway on June 14 for about an hour when drivers reported a man, later identified as Wick, threatening drivers with a screwdriver and claiming he had a bomb.
Drivers also said Wick was throwing construction cones, boards with nails sticking out, and other objects into traffic, and slashing the tires of vehicles when the drivers stopped.
