ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - When the government shutdown started on Oct. 1, massive amounts of people were furloughed. That includes those who work at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
An employee who wishes to remain anonymous spoke to Atlanta News First, saying they worked through the shutdown but numerous colleagues were sent home.
“A lot of our friends were trying to share with each other where you can find food, food banks, where you can find food for animals,” they said.
On Wednesday, furloughed employees received an email asking them to return to work Thursday morning, bringing relief and delight to this employee.
“I saw a whole bunch of my colleagues whom I haven’t seen in a long time which is really exciting,” they said.
