9 new security cameras are now active around Town Square Park. These cameras feed directly to APD's Real Time Crime Center, where they can be monitored live. Chief Sean Case of the Anchorage Police Department said, "It allows us to collect evidence after the fact, identify witnesses, identify suspects, as well as collect what actually happens on those cameras so that we can turn that evidence over to prosecutors and district attorneys." With the installation of the new cameras, APD says that it opens up the opportunity to have more installed around town. Chief Case added, "We also talked about potentially some of our trails system and putting cameras in some of our areas of our trail system where we've received a lot of concerns from those that use the trail system a lot.
