PASCAGOULA, Miss. (WLOX) - Crews were working on drainage improvements in the Buena Vista and Brookwood communities on Thursday.

Mayor Jay Willis says a lot of the city’s infrastructure is outdated and that as the city continues to grow, so does the need for new pipes.

“Some of the infrastructure we are finding is 80 to 100 years old. In different areas of town, when that area was developed, the infrastructure was placed,” Mayor Willis said. “With increased demands on our infrastructure, some of the drainage pipes for storm drains are just entirely insufficient.”

Bruner Bosio lives in Buena Vista. He says it doesn’t take much before roads are underwater during storms.
