Well, a point is better than none at all.

Certainly that applies to the Maple Leafs, who needed something, anything, after losing three in a row in regulation and looking awful in doing so .

The Leafs weren’t much better against the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday night, falling 4-3 in overtime at Scotiabank Arena.

Without injured captain Auston Matthews , Toronto recorded a season-low 15 shots on goal and failed to get a second point when the Kings’ Quinton Byfield scored at 35 seconds of the extra period.

Byfield blasted a shot past Dennis Hildeby, filling in for an injured Anthony Stolarz, on a pass from Drew Doughty.

John Tavares scored two goals for Toronto.

The Kings’ Alex Laferriere tied the game at 13:10 of the third when he deflected a shot by Brandt Clarke past Hildeby.
