LORAIN COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - A person was killed during a head-on collision involving a box truck and an SUV in Penfield Township on Thursday night.

OSHP said around 720 p.m., troopers from the Elyria Post responded to the scene of a two-vehicle crash on State Route 18, near Indian Hollow Road.

According to OSHP, the box truck was driving eastbound on Route 18 when a SUV traveling westbound

went left of center and struck the truck head-on.

The driver of the box truck received minor injuries and was treated by EMS at the scene.

The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Route 18 is currently closed in both directions between Indian Hollow Road and Foster Road. Detours have been established, and motorists should expect delays.
