Senators are debating into the late evening over a major bill during Thursday's special session.
“We have a strong bill. We have one that's actually going to put shovels in the ground,” Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff said.

“It's the biggest step towards statewide zoning in my entire history here in Connecticut,” Senate Minority Leader Stephen Harding said.
Senate Democrats and Republicans, divided on a reworked housing bill aimed at getting more units built across Connecticut. That debate comes a day after the legislation passed in the House in a mostly party line vote.
“You can't grow our economy without enough housing because we can't attract people in here,” Duff said.
