The Atlanta Braves have brought back veteran catcher Chadwick Tromp on a minor league contract according to the team’s transaction page. Tromp, who began the 2025 season on Atlanta’s Opening Day roster, saw big league action with the Baltimore Orioles last season after being designated for assignment by the Braves when backstop Sean Murphy returned from the fractured rib he suffered in Spring Training.
Tromp adds organizational depth that is needed after the team removed late-season addition Chuckie Robinson from its 40-man roster and he elected free agent. The team had also agreed to bring in long-time backstop Austin Nola on a minor league deal earlier in the offseason, but Nola opted to become the bullpen coach for the Seattle Mariners.
