Residents affected by last month’s typhoon in Western Alaska had the chance to connect directly with state and federal agencies at a town hall held at Bettye Davis East High School.

For many survivors, the in-person support made a real difference.

"They're very helpful. They explain it in detail," said Darrell John, a resident of Kipnuk.

Representatives from the State of Alaska, FEMA, and the Small Business Administration met with families still staying in hotels and shelters after Typhoon Halong. Officials provided updates on recovery efforts in affected communities and urged residents to apply for all assistance they are entitled to.
