WASHINGTON — DC Public Schools' math programs got a great addition to their budget on Thursday when an anonymous donor gave them $20 million.
The donation to the DC Public Education Fund will go toward math programs at both the DC Public Schools and public charter schools.
Officials made the announcement at Noyes Elementary School, which hosted DCPS Family Math Night
The Capital Math Collective is a city-wide partnership supporting specialized math instruction.
DCPS officials say the money will enable them to fund two math centers for an additional 6,000 students.
Those students will be able to receive what education officials call “high-impact math tutoring.”
The money will also be committed to additional training for teachers and to facilitate engagement with the community.
