BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - The Pass Christian Public Library celebrated one of its beloved former employees in a big way on Thursday.

The library posthumously dedicated its children’s wing in honor of longtime librarian Sally James.

James served for years as both the Children’s Librarian and Head Librarian. During that time, she helped generations of young readers discover a passion for books and lifted up fellow employees along the way.

Pass Christian Public Library Head Librarian Wendy Allard said James was someone who encouraged her to apply part time at the library.

She was a fabulous mentor. You can see there’s a great crowd here. We all loved Sally and miss her everyday," Allard said. “She would be very honored but she’d be a little shy I think too.”
