NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A deadly crash has closed a portion of Interstate 24 in Nashville, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation said the crash happened in the westbound lanes of I-24 near mile marker 43 just after 7 p.m. on Thursday.

MNPD reports that one person has died as a result of the crash. No other details on the crash have been released.

TDOT said traffic is being diverted at Exit 43 as emergency personnel work in the area. The estimated time for I-24 to be reopened is midnight.
