Two crashes along Interstate 83 north, involving 10 vehicles and two tractor-trailers, are expected to close a section of the highway for hours, according to PennDOT.
The first crash happened around 6:30 p.m. between exit 36 for PA 262 — Fishing Creek and exit 39A for PA 114 — Lewisberry Road.
A PennDOT spokesperson said there was a reported entrapment in the first crash. A camera at exit 39A shows several emergency vehicles in the northbound lanes.
Traffic near that crash was initially being diverted off the highway at exit 36. However, a second crash occurred in the backlog of traffic, pushing the closure back to exit 35 for PA 177 — Lewisberry.
PennDOT said the second crash is causing a “traffic disruption.”
