IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - Iowa City landlords can earn up to $2,000 for housing families through a new pilot program.
The Iowa City Housing Authority (ICHA) is launching the Mainstream Voucher program to help 19 households find stable homes in Johnson County.
The program helps individuals with disabilities and families secure long-term housing. Property owners will receive a one-time incentive of $1,000 for leasing to adults and $2,000 for leasing to families with children.
The city says this is a limited-time program and incentives are available while funding lasts. ICHA is partnering with Shelter House to issue the program.
“This pilot program is a meaningful way to open more housing opportunities for residents who need them most,” said Rachel Carter, Housing Authority Administrator.
