SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Artist and sculptor Susan Sommers unveiled her latest creation outside College Station Theaters downtown: a sculpture of legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg.

Sommers said she owes Spielberg a lot for her success and hopes others will connect with her latest piece. The sculpture honors the pioneer of the modern blockbuster.

“Steven Spielberg inspired me,” said Sommers. “I couldn’t believe that somebody could make you feel that way. I just tried to put that into my art, to make things really have a wow factor. It’s just a great way to get people to feel it.”

Sommers is responsible for the larger-than-life murals at many Bass Pro Shops locations across the country.
