Located in Bihar’s Kishanganj district, it falls under the Kishanganj Lok Sabha seat and borders the Indo-Bangladesh corridor through West Bengal. The constituency was established in the year 2008 following the delimitation process and has since emerged as a Muslim-majority seat.

As per the 2020 Assembly elections, 72.40% of its total 2,50,134 registered voters were Muslims. By the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the number of registered voters had increased to 2,68,648. A notable feature of the constituency has been the presence of the ancient Sun Temple located in Badijan village. Discovered in 1987, the site includes a basalt statue of Surya mounted on seven horses, measuring approximately 5.5 feet.

The voter turnout here has remained consistent over the years, usually in the mid-60% range,
