KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program is now loading partial payouts to SNAP recipients.
The partial payouts began on Wednesday. The Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS) stated with guidance from the U.S Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service, that they would issue 65% of benefits for the month of November.
Julie Wallin is a 65-year-old woman who lives in North Knoxville in Fountain City in a senior living complex. After hearing about SNAP payments being loaded last night, Wallin checked her card.
“I called the number on the back of the card, and it said I had $16. That’s out of $95,” Wallin said.
That is almost an 80% decrease from what Wallin usually receives on her SNAP card.
