MADISON (WKOW) -- If you're thinking about getting a dog and need name ideas, the American Kennel Club has released its list of the most popular names of the year.

Max has reclaimed the top spot for male dogs, followed by Hank, Teddy, Cooper, and Gus.

Luna was the most popular female name, followed by Bella, Daisy, Lucy, and Ruby.

The American Kennel Club says the rankings are based on registration statistics and enrollments in its AKC Canine Partners program.
