BYRON CENTER, Mich. — Josh Corey is feeling the love on his 15th birthday. After attending a recent Shields of Hope event in Jenison, he wanted police, fire, and EMS workers to drive past his house, blaring their sirens too. Josh ended up getting that wish and then some.

Hundreds of people from family members to classmates to sports teammates showed up at his house on Thursday night to surprise him. A seemingly endless receiving line of people gave him hugs, wished him happy birthday, and dropped off presents.

"It went well over the expectations. I was not expecting so many people to be here he said. It means a lot to me how many people are behind me during this fight and how much they support me," he said.
