VERSAILLES, Ky. — A Woodford County food pantry extended its hours Thursday to help residents facing delays in SNAP benefits.
The Community Household Pantry at Versailles Presbyterian Church distributed over 250 bags of household necessities in one night, well above its normal count of 65 bags. The pantry provides bags of toiletries including toothbrushes and toilet paper.
At the center of the operation are volunteers Mehgan Hoover and her 11-year-old son, Fionnlagh Castle. Hoover serves as the volunteer pantry director and has brought her son to volunteer since he was two years old.
“Some people are cheerful, and some people are like ‘blah’ and sometimes I just want to cheer people up,” Castle said.
